ICYMI – Alberta’s Provincial Political Horserace

ThinkHQ/Metro News Poll

A close three-way race between the Wildrose, NDP and PCs province-wide masks a politically balkanized province, as found by a recent ThinkHQ/Metro News Poll:

  • Province-wide, the Wildrose holds a modest lead with 34% of decided voters saying they would support them in the next provincial election. The NDP (27%) and PCs (25%) are still very competitive.

  • However, the NDP continue to dominate the Edmonton region, holding a 20-point lead over the PCs and Wildrose, while the Wildrose hold a significant lead (56%) in rural and small urban areas.

  • Calgary remains a highly competitive environment, as the PCs hold a nominal but growing lead with 30% of the decided vote, compared to the Wildrose (27%) and NDP (24%).
