MARC HENRY, PRESIDENT

ThinkHQ Public Affairs, Inc.

Marc Henry is the President of ThinkHQ Public Affairs, Inc., an Alberta-based government and public relations strategy consultancy.

Prior to founding ThinkHQ Public Affairs Inc. in August of 2011, Mr. Henry was the three-term Chief of Staff to Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier.

In his nine years in this role, Mr. Henry was the chief political advisor to the mayor, as well as responsibilities for liaison between the Mayor’s Office, other members of City Council, senior city management and intergovernmental affairs. This role provided Mr. Henry with unique and eclectic perspectives on all aspects of public governance, including media relations, planning and development, budgeting and finance, infrastructure development, environmental protection, corporate communications and community engagement.

Known as a tireless advocate for Calgary’s infrastructure, Mayor Bronconnier found unprecedented success in securing funding from other orders of government. Providing counsel to the mayor in the development and implementation of strategies responsible for securing billions of dollars for Calgary’s pressing infrastructure needs remain among the most satisfying experiences in Mr. Henry’s career.

Before his appointment as Chief of Staff, Mr. Henry was Vice President (Public Affairs, Alberta) for Ipsos-Reid (nee Angus Reid Group, Inc.).  During his nine years at Ipsos-Reid, he grew the small Alberta polling division into the largest public affairs research practice in the province.

In addition to political and public affairs based opinion research, Mr. Henry’s specialties included brand, reputation and issues management, crisis communications and labour relations, message and advertising testing and program evaluation. As the Alberta spokesperson for Ipsos-Reid, Mr. Henry frequently appeared in newspaper, magazine, radio and television coverage of company research, and as a political analyst.

Mr. Henry developed a taste for public opinion research in university.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Lethbridge, and went on to graduate studies at the University of Calgary specializing in Canadian and U.S. politics and political behavior.  During graduate school, Mr. Henry was also a Research Associate with the Canada West Foundation.

He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Tourism Calgary, and is an alumnus of Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40.

Marc and his wife Christina live in Calgary.
